The quiet place is an interesting place because I often find it's not always quiet, but rather, just natural. It's the place where life happens. And as we see with nature, as in ourselves if we let it, there are seasons. Sometimes the ground beneath our feet rumbles with new life, sometimes the world around is a frenzy of excited activity as flowers offer up their pollen. Sometimes the world sleeps and frost is the blanket. It's activity and silence in a circle. And for me, I find my best quiet is found in enjoying that circle both within and without myself.

Is this something you have experienced too?

Most definitely. When I accept that I'm going through seasons, just like the rest of the natural world, I'm less prone to feel ashamed, depressed, or perfectionistic. When I remember that the change of seasons is part of normal life, I become more open to the present moment. I don't get stuck in the past or fear the future. I feel close to the rest of creation.

Yes, quiet isn't always about sound waves. It's the absence of a barrier between yourself, God, and the wild.
