Gazes too, like the wind pass by...

Sometimes harsh, sometimes gentle and often uncaring.

We yearn on the whole for gazes like a sunbeam.

Yet a moment on a bench what can be done?

Little but remembering, even the most severe winds, sunbeams and gazes are a gift, that we can see or feel anything at all.

It's easy to forget amid noise of that gift of existence.

Even in most wretched state, what a joy to exist at all.

A little time just taking in the gift of existence is a wonderful when this is remembered and a dreadful thing when in the rush and noise, worries cloud the mind.

Thanks for sharing, it's always good to be reminded of the song that sings when we are silent.

Thank you for this reminder. I find it's so much easier to be grateful for what I have when I take the time to notice that I have it. Trouble is, I don't do that as often as I should. I hope I can spend, as you say, "a little time just taking in the gift of existence." I'm hoping for more than a little, but I'll take what I can get.

This is lovely! I love to sit and people watch and I've noticed in the past few years that they are getting freaked out! But, the outcome is worth it.

It truly is. In spite of the reaction I got, I want to do more people watching in the future.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this piece. Thank you for reading.

This reminds me of something I read a few weeks ago about how if you really want to have contact with extra terrestrials, you need to go sit in a park for hours at a stretch, not on your phone, just hanging out there. You may meet some strange folk who are not what they seem, the writer intoned. ET or no, I have been meaning to take this advice. Before the weather turns.

Well, as long as they don't have anything invasive planned for me or anyone else, I'd love to have a chat with someone from another planet.

And yes, if they're only posing as humans, best to do it while it's still warm. Unless they come from an ice planet. Then go nuts.

This is HILARIOUS. Also, great subtitle. xD

I had an experience (not as dramatic and quite a bit more positive) when I was in college; I was sitting and just eating an apple and looking around, and I smiled when I made eye contact with this lady coming out of the library. She came over and said hi (and I think mentioned something positive about my general awareness) and we got talking - long story short, she was the chair of the English Department and we ended up being on quite good terms. Even more recently, my sister has gone to that college, and that lady remembers me. 🙃

I'm glad you got a laugh out of it and that you enjoyed the subtitle. It made me happy too. :)

That's a lovely story about meeting the English chair. Our reactions to satisfied or peaceful folk say a lot about us. They can be terrifying with their stillness. I've met several monks and nuns, and I get jittery around them every time. If the English chair approached you while you were in that state, she must have an open heart.
