Piles of unread books take root and grow back into trees on my tables and shelves. I stop writing for months at a time. I can’t stop looking. At my phone. My laptop. My TV. No time for leisure and no time for work. Only for viewing.
This is a very powerful opening piece and I really admire it. There is a lot of relatability there, and in some shape or form I am sure most people can find something in this that relates to them. The addictive nature of the world around us, and how it takes us away from the quieter patterns and passions in our lives is something I have spent a lot of my life working with too. The phone (the black mirror) often catches me unawares. How easy it is to get lost in that off reflection of the world.
Thank you for reading and commenting, Graeme. It's nice to see people finding my old work.
And I agree, I know many others are experiencing these traps/magic mirrors/time sucks daily. Smartphones, social media, etc. are designed to keep us interacting. It's taken me a long time to put distance between myself and these things, and I still have further to go.
I always like to start at the bottom. I think the journey of putting yourself out there and getting your thoughts and ideas into the world is such an interesting and brave thing. So yes, I tend to work back to front. I look forward to getting to the top!

Thank you! I look forward to your comments.
Fair warning, I write mostly fiction now, but I continue to post about these personal efforts as well.
Glad to see your first post up! Looking forward to following along on the adventure.
Thanks for being here.
